Fregate Island: The Seychelles Private Island Reserve Reopens
Private Fregate Island (Seychelles) reopens after a four-year renovation. At 200 hectares it is only slightly smaller than Monaco, and just 10% of its protected territory is built up by Fregate Island. The island is closed to outside visitors, so every guest enjoys exclusivity and complete privacy.
Villas
The resort has 17 villas with 5 to 10 bedrooms, each with a professional kitchen and its own buggy. Every villa can be adapted with an extra bedroom, a workspace, a spa room or a gym. A personal butler looks after guests 24/7, and there is accommodation for nannies, assistants and other staff. You can rent as many villas as you need, or the whole island.
Nature
Your holiday companions will be more than 3,000 friendly Aldabra giant tortoises. You can watch hawksbill turtles nesting on the beaches and see more than 40 bird species, including the Seychelles magpie-robin, saved from extinction.
Things to do
Go sailing or kayaking, paddleboarding or windsurfing, snorkelling or scuba diving, take a sunset cruise or visit other islands, or relax on the island’s seven superb beaches. On land there are bike rides, tennis and padel, and learning programmes for children and adults, plus a museum and library, an art gallery and an ecology centre, a virtual reality room, a 3D cinema and play areas. The spa has a floatation pod, a Watsu pool, a sleep pod, a hyperbaric chamber and a snow room. The restaurants offer an open kitchen, one of the best wine collections at any Indian Ocean resort and even the island’s own rum distillery.
Fregate is 15–20 minutes from Mahé by helicopter or an hour and a half by boat.
