Tailor-made journeys through Cyprus

Cyprus combines Mediterranean beaches with ancient sites, wine routes and journeys into the mountains. The right resort depends on the style of coastline, access to the beach and the experiences you would like to include, from a family holiday to a cultural journey across the island.

Paphos and the western coast

Paphos suits travellers who want to stay beside the sea while remaining close to important historical sites. Its Archaeological Park contains Roman villas and detailed mosaics, while the surrounding region includes Aphrodite’s Rock, the Akamas Peninsula and small coastal communities.

Families should consider the type of beach, access to the water and the hotel’s facilities. Polis and the Akamas area are well suited to walking, nature and days spent exploring the western coast.

Limassol and southern Cyprus

Limassol combines a long waterfront, restaurants and contemporary city life with a convenient position for exploring the island. From here, travellers can visit ancient Kourion, Kolossi Castle and the wine-producing villages in the foothills of the Troodos Mountains.

The beaches around Protaras and Ayia Napa are known for pale sand and clear water. Hotel selection should take account of the atmosphere of the surrounding area and the character of the individual beach.

Troodos and the wine villages

The Troodos Mountains reveal a different side of Cyprus, with pine forests, historic monasteries, stone-built villages and family wineries. A journey can include Omodos, Kalopanayiotis and the painted Byzantine churches recognised by UNESCO.

An experienced guide and driver make it easier to connect sites located across different parts of the mountain region.

When to visit Cyprus

May to October is the main season for beach holidays. April, May, September and October are particularly suitable for combining the coast with walking and cultural visits. July and August can be very hot, so excursions are best planned for earlier in the day. Popular coastal hotels should be reserved well in advance.
