Luxury Holidays in Fiesch
Fiesch is an Alpine village in the Swiss canton of Valais and a convenient base for exploring the Aletsch Arena. Cable cars provide direct access to Fiescheralp and Eggishorn, where elevated viewpoints overlook the Great Aletsch Glacier. The largest glacier in the Alps forms part of the UNESCO-listed Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch region.
Travellers choose Fiesch for its mountain scenery, well-connected slopes and relaxed pace rather than a busy social scene. A carefully planned stay can combine an Alpine hotel or chalet with guided activities and further journeys through Valais.
Skiing in the Aletsch Arena
The Aletsch Arena offers approximately 100 km of pistes across Fiescheralp, Bettmeralp and Riederalp. Much of the ski area lies above 2,000 metres, with terrain for beginners, families and experienced skiers.
The cable car from Fiesch reaches Fiescheralp in approximately ten minutes. From there, guests can explore the wider ski domain, follow the Glacier Panorama Tour or ski more challenging terrain around Eggishorn. Hotel location, skiing ability and lift schedules should all be considered when planning each day.
The Great Aletsch Glacier
A short cable-car journey connects Fiescheralp with the Eggishorn viewpoint at 2,869 metres. From the viewing area, the glacier’s sweeping curves and the surrounding peaks of Valais are clearly visible. In summer, Eggishorn is a starting point for several mountain trails. Walking on the glacier itself requires a qualified guide and suitable conditions.
Summer holidays in Fiesch
From June to October, the region is well suited to hiking, mountain biking and paragliding. Visitors can spend a day around Fiescheralp, follow panoramic paths above the glacier or combine Fiesch with Brig, Zermatt and other destinations in Valais.
Fiesch has its own railway station and convenient connections through Brig, making the resort easy to include in a longer Swiss itinerary. A stay of five to seven nights allows time for the Aletsch Arena and nearby valleys. Seasonal cable-car timetables should be confirmed before travelling.
