Tailored Yacht Selection for Private Charters
A private yacht charter is a travel format for guests who value privacy, personalised service and the freedom to shape an itinerary around their own interests. It is suitable for family holidays, trips with friends, celebrations, corporate events or journeys combining several islands and coastal destinations.
Yana Luxury Travel has been arranging individual journeys since 1994 and specialises in the tailored selection of premium and luxury private yachts and superyachts. We consider the cruising area, dates, charter duration, number of guests, preferred itinerary, required service level and approximate budget.
Instead of receiving a generic vessel catalogue, the client receives a relevant shortlist with a clear explanation of each yacht’s differences, charter terms, possible restrictions and additional expenses. We do not recommend the largest or most expensive yacht, but the vessel that best suits the itinerary, guest profile and intended travel experience.
What We Check Before Recommending a Yacht
Photographs and basic technical specifications do not always provide a complete picture of a yacht. Two vessels of a similar size may differ significantly in layout, comfort, crew experience, onboard facilities and suitability for a particular itinerary.
During the selection process, we assess:
yacht type, length, build year and most recent refit;
permitted guest capacity;
number, location and configuration of cabins;
crew composition, experience and spoken languages;
cruising speed and range;
stabilisers while underway and at anchor;
outdoor areas, onboard facilities and general equipment;
water toys and available activities;
suitability for families with children;
conditions for hosting private events;
availability for the selected dates;
cancellation and amendment conditions.
Our recommendations are based on the practical experience of our team and current information obtained directly from charter partners and yacht management companies.
This detailed assessment helps prevent situations in which a yacht technically matches the request but proves unsuitable because of its layout, service level, crew capabilities or technical characteristics.
How a Private Charter Itinerary Is Planned
A yacht charter itinerary is developed around the guests’ preferences, charter duration, season, distances between destinations and the capabilities of the selected vessel. A single journey may combine islands, secluded bays, beaches, coastal towns, restaurants and natural attractions.
However, an itinerary cannot be completely independent of external conditions. It may be affected by:
weather and sea conditions;
navigation regulations;
the captain’s safety decisions;
berth availability in marinas;
restrictions in particular ports and protected areas;
the yacht’s cruising speed and range;
the time required to travel between destinations.
We help create a balanced itinerary that avoids unnecessary long passages and allows sufficient time for relaxation. Private excursions, restaurant reservations, beach clubs, diving, water activities and ground transfers can also be included.
The final itinerary is agreed with the captain and may be adjusted during the journey when required by weather conditions or guest safety.
What Is Included in the Yacht Charter Price
The base charter fee generally includes use of the yacht, the services of the crew and the vessel’s standard equipment. The exact inclusions depend on the selected yacht and the terms of the charter agreement.
Additional expenses may include:
fuel for the yacht, tender and water equipment;
marina berthing and port charges;
food, beverages and special catering requests;
local taxes;
transfers and shoreside services;
delivery of the yacht to the embarkation point;
satellite communications and selected services;
additional personnel or instructors;
security or damage deposits.
Current operating expenses are often covered through an APA — Advance Provisioning Allowance. This is an advance payment used for fuel, provisions, marina fees and other agreed expenses. At the end of the charter, a detailed account is provided and any unused balance is returned.
Before the booking is confirmed, we explain the full cost structure, clarify what is included in the base charter fee and outline the expenses that may be charged separately.
Travel Planning and 24/7 Support
A yacht charter is only one part of the overall journey. Where required, Yana Luxury Travel also arranges international and domestic flights, private transfers, accommodation before or after the charter, chauffeur-driven vehicles, restaurants, excursions and personalised activities.
Before departure, guests can confirm menus, beverages, children’s equipment, water activities, event arrangements and other individual requests. All relevant information is shared with the crew in advance so that the yacht is prepared according to the guests’ expectations.
We work directly with our partners, verify current yacht availability, confirm charter terms and support the booking at every stage, from the initial request to the end of the journey. During the trip, our team remains available 24/7 to assist with changes, additional requests or unexpected situations.
To receive a tailored shortlist, clients only need to provide the preferred cruising area or itinerary, dates, charter duration, number of guests and cabins, special requirements and approximate budget. Based on this information, we prepare suitable options and explain their key differences.
