Planning the safari
When to visit
The migration herds generally reach the Maasai Mara between July and October, but their timing and river crossings cannot be guaranteed. After the rains, the landscape becomes greener and visitor numbers are often lower.
Choosing where to stay
Travellers can select a lodge or tented camp in the main reserve, the Mara Triangle or a neighbouring conservancy. Location affects driving times, vehicle numbers and access to activities such as walking or night safaris.
