Luxury holidays on Cousine Island
Cousine Island is a small granitic island located west of Praslin, combining a highly exclusive resort with an established conservation programme. It should not be confused with neighbouring Cousin Island, which is primarily visited on organised nature excursions. Cousine Island has only five villas, making it suitable for couples, families and small groups.
The island can form part of a wider Seychelles itinerary with Mahé, Praslin and La Digue or be rented in its entirety for one family or group.
Villas and full-island rental
Cousine Island offers four Luxury Beach Villas and the two-bedroom Presidential Beach Villa. Each villa is positioned close to the ocean and has its own swimming pool. The Presidential Beach Villa also includes lounges, a study, a gym and extensive outdoor areas.
Full-island rental provides access to all five villas, the dining pavilion, spa, yoga studio and a programme arranged around the guests’ interests. This format works particularly well for family celebrations, honeymoons and multigenerational holidays.
Wildlife and conservation
For more than three decades, Cousine Island has restored indigenous woodland, protected seabird nesting sites and monitored hawksbill turtles. Guests can join guided walks with the conservation team, learn about seasonal turtle nesting and encounter the island’s Aldabra giant tortoises.
Wildlife sightings depend on natural cycles and cannot be guaranteed. Hawksbill nesting generally begins during the autumn months, while the southeast trade-wind season brings large colonies of breeding seabirds.
Ocean experiences
Activities include diving and snorkelling along the coral reef, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, yoga and botanical spa treatments. Catamaran excursions can also be arranged to Praslin, La Digue and smaller islands within the archipelago.
The fastest way to reach Cousine Island is by helicopter, taking approximately 17 minutes from Mahé or five minutes from Praslin. Alternatively, guests can fly from Mahé to Praslin and continue by catamaran for approximately 20–25 minutes. Transfers should be arranged in advance, with weather conditions and baggage limits considered when planning the journey.
