Luxury holidays on Frégate Island
Frégate is a 200-hectare granitic island within the Seychelles’ Inner Islands. Its coastline includes seven beaches, among them Anse Victorin, framed by tropical vegetation and granite formations. Only around 10% of the island is developed, while the remaining land is dedicated to conservation.
The new Fregate Island resort
Frégate is currently undergoing a complete redevelopment of its resort, infrastructure and environmental facilities. According to the announced concept, the relaunched Fregate Island will feature 17 villas and estates designed for couples, families and multigenerational stays.
Flexible layouts will include pools, kitchens and accommodation for accompanying staff. Each residence is planned to have a dedicated 24-hour butler and a buggy for travelling around the island. A full-island buyout will also be available for celebrations and group retreats. The reopening date and reservation status should be confirmed before travel arrangements are made.
Conservation on Frégate
More than 3,000 Aldabra giant tortoises roam the island. Long-term habitat restoration has also supported the recovery of rare birds, including the Seychelles magpie-robin. Frégate’s beaches provide an important nesting ground for critically endangered hawksbill turtles.
A stay can include guided nature walks, birdwatching, encounters with giant tortoises and visits to the conservation centre. These experiences provide an introduction to the work of the Fregate Foundation and the island’s long-term ecological programme.
Beaches, diving and island experiences
Following the relaunch, planned activities include PADI diving, day and night snorkelling, sailing, kayaking, fishing and inter-island cruises. Hiking, cycling, tennis, padel, yoga and personalised wellness programmes will also be available.
Transfers from Mahé can be arranged by air or sea once the resort’s operating schedule is confirmed. Five to seven nights will allow time for the beaches, conservation experiences and ocean activities. Frégate can also be combined with Mahé, Praslin or La Digue in a longer Seychelles itinerary.
