Luxury Holidays in Fujairah
Fujairah is the Emirates facing the Indian Ocean: the rugged beauty of the Hajar Mountains, clear waters and resorts that reveal Arabia’s distinctly maritime soul.
Tailor-made holidays in Fujairah
Fujairah is the only UAE emirate located entirely on the country’s eastern side along the Gulf of Oman. In place of Dubai’s high-rise skyline, it offers the Hajar Mountains, long beaches, smaller bays and coral reefs. The destination suits relaxed seaside stays, family holidays and itineraries combining snorkelling, diving and journeys through the mountain regions.
Al Aqah and Dibba resorts
The principal beach resorts are located north of Fujairah City, around Al Aqah and Dibba. Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort and Fujairah Rotana Resort & Spa have extensive beachfront grounds and facilities for families. Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort is situated in Dibba, between the coastline and the Hajar Mountains.
Hotel selection should consider the character of the beach, room location, sea depth, children’s programmes and distance from the diving sites. The Gulf of Oman can experience stronger waves than Dubai’s coastline, so swimming and boat conditions depend on the weather.
Snorkelling and diving
Fujairah is known for a more varied underwater environment than the UAE’s western coast. Popular snorkelling and diving areas are found near Al Aqah, Snoopy Island and Dibba. Excursions may include coral formations, reef fish habitats and selected wreck sites.
Trips should be arranged according to the participants’ experience, sea conditions and seasonal visibility. Beginners can start with an instructor-led introduction, while certified divers can explore several sites with different depths and underwater landscapes.
Mountains and historic sites
A journey through the emirate can include Al Bidya Mosque, Fujairah Fort, Al Hayl Fort and smaller settlements near the mountains. Wadi Wurayah is noted for its mountain landscapes and natural springs, although current access regulations should be confirmed before the visit.
Mountain drives, walks through the wadis and visits to local markets can be added to the itinerary. A car with a driver and guide is recommended, as the main sites are spread across the emirate.
The best time to visit Fujairah
October to April is particularly suitable for beaches, diving and mountain excursions. During the hot and humid summer, stays are usually centred on resort facilities, with water activities planned for the morning. The drive from Dubai generally takes around one and a half to two hours, depending on the hotel and traffic. Five to seven nights allow time for the beach and selected excursions, while Fujairah can also be combined with several days in Dubai.
