Skiing in Arosa Lenzerheide

The combined Arosa Lenzerheide ski area offers 225 kilometres of prepared pistes. Its two main sectors are connected by the Urdenbahn cable car, which crosses high above the Urdental valley. Skiers can explore Arosa before continuing towards Lenzerheide, although several days are needed to experience the wider area properly.

The region provides terrain for different abilities, from gentle blue pistes to long red runs and more demanding sectors. Cross-country skiing, winter hiking, snowshoe walks and tobogganing offer alternatives to downhill skiing. Lift schedules and access to individual sectors depend on current weather and snow conditions.

Arosa can be reached from Chur aboard the Rhaetian Railway. The scenic train journey through the Schanfigg Valley forms part of the experience. The road from Chur is equally picturesque but includes numerous bends.

When to visit

The principal ski season generally runs from December to early April. June to September is better suited to hiking, cycling and days beside the lakes. Some hotels, restaurants and lifts close between the main winter and summer seasons. Five to seven nights allow enough time to explore both sides of Arosa Lenzerheide without rushing.
