Chitwan The national park in Nepal, the UNESCO World Heritage site, is 200 kilometres from Kathmandu. Until 1973, the park was a loving hunting place for Nepalese kings until it was declared a protected zone, the first of Nepal ' s national parks. Park is one of the few places in the world where wild animals can be observed in their natural habitats.
There are large numbers of rivers and small lakes in the park. It's flat, soft and warm. Park is open to tourists. Visitors usually live here in small bungalows or booms. Excursions on the park are conducted on elephants or jeeps. Also, apart from the jungle safari on elephants, you can go to car safaris, rafting and canoe swims. The main tourist centre in the outskirts of the park is the village of Saurah (there is an Internet, a fixed and mobile telephone).
Local inhabitants: homogeneous noses (approximately 500), lip bears, leopards, wild boars, freshwater dolphins, crocodiles, more than 350 species of birds and royal Bengal tiger (about 80).
