Lizard Island is situated 240 kilometres north of Cairns and 27 kilometres off the Queensland coastline. The only way to reach the island is by light aircraft — the one-hour scenic flight from Cairns passes over 200 kilometres of the Great Barrier Reef and is a breathtaking introduction in itself. The reef is directly on the resort's doorstep: the inner reef is just 15 minutes by boat, and the outer reef approximately 50 minutes away.
