Rah Gili Maldives: The Island of Slow Time
Opened in February 2026, Rah Gili Maldives invites you into the atmosphere of the authentic Maldives. The resort lies beside a dolphin sanctuary on a natural island in South Malé Atoll, 40 minutes from the airport by business-class speedboat. Rah Gili is the flagship of Six & Six Private Islands, which plans to open six resorts in the Maldives by 2029.
A deep commitment to Maldivian culture and traditions shows in the natural, bohemian-touched design and abundance of handcrafted details. The 300-strong team are mostly locals who embody Maldivian values; even the butlers are called edhurun, Dhivehi for “mentor” – someone who knows how to make the Maldives your favourite destination. There is no conventional reception: check-in takes place in your villa. Other highlights include lush greenery with mature palms and a house coral reef.
Villas
Rah Gili Maldives has 74 villas from 171 sq m, on the beach and over the water, facing sunrise or sunset. All are spacious, built from natural materials and have large pools, and the overwater villas have 18-metre slides straight into the lagoon. Every villa features modern audio-visual systems, a minibar and a wine fridge.
Dining
Guests can enjoy a true culinary journey. The all-day international restaurant Juliette has live music in the evenings and themed buffets on Fridays. There are also five à la carte restaurants:
- Spicy Ginger, serving Thai, Chinese and Japanese cuisine with rare whiskies and sake;
- Italian La Tavola, with handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza;
- Japanese Teppan, with an open kitchen;
- Indian Tiffin, with tandoor dishes;
- Maakeyolhu, serving Maldivian seafood to the beat of bodu beru drums.
Flexible meal plans, from breakfast only to Limited All Inclusive, let everyone choose their preferred format. By the 210 sq m main pool, Amrit Beach Club serves signature cocktails in shells and coconuts to DJ sets.
Wellness and activities
The wellness programme features SIX & SIX Rituals with a holistic approach to relaxation and vitality, outdoor sports areas and sunrise and sunset workouts. Water activities include diving and snorkelling, catamarans, water-skiing, kayaking, visits to the dolphin sanctuary with a marine biologist and a variety of excursions. Resident artists, a photo studio and an open-air cinema add to the experience, along with visiting Michelin-starred chefs, mixologists, sommeliers and wellness experts.
At The Nest kids’ club, young guests enjoy arts, crafts, games and reading, sports, cooking classes and ocean conservation programmes – ideal for family holidays. The team speaks more than 20 languages, and the island has a clinic with a doctor and nurse as well as lifeguards.
Rah Gili Maldives cares for the environment and local communities: it uses solar power, separates, recycles and composts waste, bottles its own drinking water and works with Maldivian artisans, farmers and fishermen.
