The Nuwara-Eliya Mountain resort, the " country ' s capital " , the " small England " , has long been the title of one of Asia ' s best resorts. There's a soft climate and painting landscape. More than 150 years ago, the English, fleeing the Colombo heat (mostly April), travelled with their families. In Nuwara-Elija, there are many colonial styles, the English Church, the post office building with a clock tower, old villas, similar gasolines, President Queens House residence, beautiful Victoria Park, many old and modern hotels, a beautiful golf club with one of the best lakes in Asia, with Graph and the moon to 18.
There are many mountain rivers with waterfalls in the Nuwar area, and the highest mountain of the island, Pidurutalala, is nearby.
On the outlying mountains, there are plantations of the famous Cylon tea. For the first time, tea was brought to the island in 1824 from China and in 1839 from India and was tested in Botanical Sadu Peradinia. In 1867, the Scottish Plantator James Taylor first engaged in commercial tea, planting 80 ha in the Nuwar Elia area.

The visit to tea plantations and the tasting of aromatic beverages is one of the destinations of the tourism programme in the region.
