The small Burgundy town of Saulieu lies halfway between Paris and Lyon, a two-hour drive from Paris.
The surrounding area is home to many of the region's attractions: the Chablis wine region to the north, the famous vineyards near Beaune (Côtes de Beaune, Côtes de Nuits, and Hautes Côtes de Beaune) to the southeast, the little-known Auxois region (home to numerous castles and abbeys), the Morvan region (known as "Little French Canada"), and the beautiful cities of Dijon and Autun.
