There is a magnificent castle built on the terrace of the rock - Borgo Santandrea, on the surface of the Mediterranean Sea and the charming city of Koncaday Marini. The castle history is linked to the old legend: in 1543, in this marvelous corner of the Amalphita coast, there was a powerful Sultan who carried out a military walk, and he was so enchanted by the fabulous beauty of nature, which he ordered the construction of a luxury palace here.
Borgo Santandrea is the realisation of the passion project of two Italian families with generations of hospitality experience between them. They radically transformed an existing 1960s hotel, an ambitious yet respectful restoration carried out over almost four years in order to create a unique environment where Mid-Century design meets Mediterranean style.
The owners’ ultimate goal was to create an atmosphere in which guests feel they are not staying in a hotel but rather in an iconic Italian villa by the Mediterranean.
The numbers combine modern comfort and the luxury of the Arab palace: fine antique furniture, decorated perlamutronic incrust, ceilings with a blind, gorgeous bright textile, mirrors in the ashts, old painting on the walls. The fancy bathrooms are manually decorated by the ceramic tiles of Vietri. Of all the numbers, there's a fascinating view of the aquamarin seabed and the Amalfitan landscapes.
The suites are decorated with pieces coming from a selection of some of the best Italian brands as well as bespoke furniture designed for this space by a team lead by architect Rino Gambardella and made by local craftsmen.
