Luxury Holidays in Saas-Fee

Saas-Fee is a high-altitude resort in the Swiss canton of Valais, set at approximately 1,800 metres and surrounded by thirteen peaks rising above 4,000 metres. Conventional cars are not permitted in the village, where electric vehicles provide local transport. Traditional chalets, glacier scenery and a compact centre make it an appealing base for winter skiing and summer mountain holidays.

Glacier skiing and 100 km of pistes

The main Saas-Fee ski area offers approximately 100 km of prepared pistes, with lifts reaching elevations of up to 3,600 metres. Much of the terrain is best suited to intermediate and confident skiers. Nursery slopes are available near the village, while more experienced guests can explore high-altitude sectors and long glacier descents.

Glacier terrain away from the marked pistes requires specialist knowledge. Any off-piste itinerary should be planned with a qualified mountain guide and adjusted to the weather, avalanche forecast and current glacier conditions.

Mittelallalin and Metro Alpin

Mittelallalin, at approximately 3,500 metres, is reached by travelling to Felskinn and continuing aboard the underground Metro Alpin funicular. The mountain station provides access to an ice pavilion, viewing areas and a revolving restaurant overlooking the surrounding peaks. Access is subject to weather conditions and the operating schedule of the mountain lifts.

Five-star hotels and spa experiences

Walliserhof Grand-Hotel & Spa, formerly known as Ferienart Resort & Spa, occupies a central yet quiet position in Saas-Fee. Its facilities include an extensive spa, an indoor pool and several restaurants. Another refined option is The Capra, a five-star alpine hotel with spacious suites, mountain views and a dedicated wellness area.

Summer in the Saas Valley

From June to September, visitors can follow hiking trails around Spielboden and Hannig, travel to the Mattmark reservoir or use the mountain lifts to reach higher walking routes. Trail conditions and lift timetables should always be checked before setting out.

Five to seven nights provide enough time to combine skiing or hiking with spa treatments and relaxed evenings in the village. The principal ski season usually runs from December to April. Visp is the nearest major railway hub, with onward bus services and arranged transfers to the car-free resort.
