Picturesque Lake Fuschlsee is located near Salzburg and a 10-minute drive from the romantic town of St. Wolfgang. It is surrounded on all sides by magnificent, manicured forests, which are designated a national nature reserve. The lake's extraordinary emerald-colored water is mesmerizing and is among the cleanest in Austria. Its climate makes Lake Fuschlsee one of the warmest lakes in the Salzkammergut, with water temperatures reaching 24 degrees Celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit) in summer.
The lake is home to the resorts of Fuschl am See and Hof bei Salzburg. There are designated swimming areas on the lake: the Fuschl public beach (Strandbad Fuschl) and Stollingerhof on the southern shore of the lake and in Hof on the western shore (use of the beaches is subject to a fee). Boat trips on traditional wooden barges are available on the lake. The area offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including golf and mini-golf, windsurfing, fishing, beach volleyball, boating, rollerblading, hiking, and cycling.
Various festivals and cultural events are held throughout the year, including the open-air theater in Thalgau, performances of Ferdinand Raimund, performances by the Vienna Philharmonic, and various art exhibitions.
The close proximity to Salzburg allows for a perfect combination of lakeside relaxation and sightseeing, making concerts, exhibitions, and museums easily accessible.
